Everyone says they have a “dream home.” But whe Everyone says they have a “dream home.”

But where is it actually located?

Suburbs with schools and sidewalks?
Quiet countryside with land and space?
Beach town where life moves slower?

Here’s what I’ve learned. The house matters. The setting matters more.

In the Charlotte area alone, that choice can mean SouthPark convenience, Fort Mill community feel, Lake Norman weekends, or driving an hour and being somewhere completely different.

Your lifestyle should decide your location. Not the other way around.

Which one are you choosing right now?

The Charlotte-area neighborhoods that look like a The Charlotte-area neighborhoods that look like a Hallmark movie but have real front porches and real neighbors.

Comment GUIDE and I’ll send you my Moving to Charlotte Guide.

A few neighborhoods around Charlotte just have that feeling. Here are three worth driving through:

Baxter Village | Fort Mill, SC

Front porches. Walking trails. Community events that actually bring people together.

Walkable to local restaurants, shops, and neighborhood gathering spots.

The kind of place where people wave when they pass you.

Cureton | Waxhaw, NC

Tree-lined streets, sidewalks full of strollers and dog walkers, and a true neighborhood feel.

Minutes from Downtown Waxhaw’s charm, local boutiques, and seasonal events.

The kind of community where people still show up for each other.

The Palisades | Charlotte, NC

Quiet streets, mature landscaping, and a slower pace that feels tucked away from the city.

Close enough to Charlotte when you need it, but far enough away to feel like an escape.

A neighborhood that was built around lifestyle, not just houses.

This is the version of Charlotte people picture when they imagine slowing down, knowing their neighbors, and putting down roots.

Your 4th of July plans in Charlotte, sorted. Whet Your 4th of July plans in Charlotte, sorted.

Whether you’re looking for fireworks, family time, a staycation, outdoor adventure, or just an excuse to get out of the house, Charlotte gives you options.

One of the things I appreciate most about living here is that there isn’t just one way to spend a holiday weekend.

You can spend the day on the river, cool off at a museum, catch a movie under the stars, relax poolside, grab a great meal, or end the night watching fireworks over the skyline.

That’s also why so many people end up falling in love with Charlotte. There is always something to do, but there is never just one way to do it.

Swipe through for a few ideas if you’re staying local this year.

And if you’re considering making Charlotte home, comment GUIDE and I’ll send you my Moving to Charlotte Guide.

People think being a real estate advisor is listin People think being a real estate advisor is listing appointments, showings, and closing tables.

Some of it is.

A lot of it looks like this.

This week I found myself in Philadelphia previewing a new Center City listing with the owners of Kurfiss Sotheby’s International Realty, touring homes in New Hope ranging from $2.5M to $18M, attending a global mastermind, exploring one of the most historic cities in America, and negotiating a transaction back home in Charlotte.

What most people don’t see is that this part of the business matters just as much.

The relationships.

The market knowledge.

The conversations happening behind the scenes.

The ability to pick up the phone and know exactly who to call when a client is relocating, investing, or looking for expertise outside my market.

Real estate is local.

The best advisors are not.

The thing people complain about is often the exact The thing people complain about is often the exact reason someone else moves there.

Yes, Mooresville is farther from Uptown.

That is the point.

The extra distance is why people get excited about having a boat in the driveway. It’s why dinner on the lake can be a normal Tuesday. It’s why some people trade convenience for space and never look back.

It’s why weekends feel less scheduled.

It’s why people who thought they wanted to be in the middle of everything realize they actually wanted room to breathe.

The people who love Mooresville were never looking for the center of Charlotte.

They were looking for exactly this.

If you’re considering moving to Charlotte or the surrounding areas, don’t automatically write off the towns everyone says are “too far.”

Sometimes that’s exactly where you’re supposed to be.

Save this for your next Charlotte weekend. Or for Save this for your next Charlotte weekend.

Or for that friend who texts, “What should we do while we’re in town?”

Comment GUIDE and I’ll send over my full Charlotte guide.

One of the questions I get asked most often is what someone should do when they’re visiting Charlotte for the first time.

The truth?

It depends on what kind of experience you’re looking for.

Some people want breweries and baseball games.

Some want museums, history, and local culture.

Others want a great meal, a day on the water, outdoor adventure, or simply an excuse to get outside and explore.

That’s one of the things I love most about Charlotte. There isn’t just one version of the city.

You can spend a weekend here and never have the same experience twice.

These are some of the places I recommend most often when friends, clients, and visiting agents ask me where to start.

What’s one place you’d add to the list?
